Publish only possible with bower?

Wanted to publish my webcomponent that can be found here: https://github.com/rejas/github-webcomponents

Alas I get the error message:

Unable to process element
Missing bower.json
Currently, only Bower is supported. In the latest tagged version of this repository, ensure there is a valid bower.json. 

Since bower is more or less dead (or rather deprecated) I am wondering how I should proceed to get my component published here?
