`phabricator.services.mozilla.com` - Text renders with massive gaps.

Open RokeJulianLockhart opened this issue 11 months ago • 1 comments

URL: https://phabricator.services.mozilla.com/

Browser / Version: Firefox 123.0 Operating System: Linux Tested Another Browser: Yes Chrome

Problem type: Design is broken Description: Items are misaligned Steps to Reproduce: Using https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:/Factory/standard/x86_64/MozillaFirefox-123.0.1-1.1.x86_64.rpm, when the font preference which the page sets is not overridden (when about:config preference browser.display.use_document_fonts is 1) the text renders with massive gaps. However, when the font preference is overridden (when browser.display.use_document_fonts is 0) it renders correctly, as it does in https://dl.google.com/dl/linux/direct/google-chrome-unstable_current_x86_64.rpm version 124.0.6356.2. Additionally, all numbers render as emojis, whereas they do not with the preference manually set as aforementioned, nor in Chrome.

This suddenly changed a few months ago, and applies to all Phabricator instances, like https://secure.phabricator.com/ and https://phabricator.kde.org/. I've never experienced it outside a Phabricator instance.

We appreciate your report. I was able to reproduce the issue by following the steps to reproduce.

Tested with:

Browser / Version: Firefox Release 124.0 (64-bit)/ Firefox Nightly 126.0a1 (2024-03-21) (64-bit) /Chrome Version 123.0.6312.59 (Official Build) (64-bit) Operating System: Ubuntu 22.4 LTS x64

Notes:

  1. Reproducible regardless of the status of ETP.
  2. Reproducible on the latest build of Firefox Nightly and Release.
  3. Works as expected using Chrome.

Moving this to NeedsDiagnosis for further investigations.
