URL: https://www.tangerine.ca
Browser / Version: Firefox 123.0 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.15 Tested Another Browser: Yes Safari
Problem type: Something else Description: Frequently cannot log in due to CORS error Steps to Reproduce: This bug is most closely described here: https://github.com/webcompat/web-bugs/issues/119414 https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1821995
However, disabling hardware acceleration has no effect in this instance.
Primary description of issue: Attempting to log in using an account number at https://www.tangerine.ca/app/#/login/login-id fails with the error: "We're sorry for the inconvenience. This function is currently unavailable. Please try again later."
Success means being presented with the PIN field.
NOTE: You can test this by using the account number 12345678
In the console, when the login error occurs, this error appears:
"Cross-Origin Request Blocked: The Same Origin Policy disallows reading the remote resource at https://secure.tangerine.ca/web/Tangerine.html. (Reason: CORS request did not succeed). Status code: (null)."
The issue appears intermittent, I have attempted to do some troubleshooting but cannot identify a specific fix. Some things that HAVE worked to avoid the error: Using a completely fresh Firefox instance in the Mac Guest account. Starting a new profile. Private browser, disable Enhanced Tracking Protection, clear site cookies (from URL bar). (Inconsistent)
Things I've tried testing, but inconsistent results: Enabling/disabling addons Restarting in troubleshooting mode Using a private window vs regular Disable Enhanced Tracking Protection Clearing the site cookies
Problem does not occur in Chrome or Safari.
Issue appears related to cookies, but not reliably fixed by clearing them. Error sometimes occurs in a private window. Fresh browser profile appears to work.

If the reporter (or anyone else) can do a more in depth test and provide more information (console logs/errors/screenshots) regarding this issue, feel free to reopen and leave a comment (or you can send us an email with the test account credentials and we will test it on our own).
Suggestions: • Clear cache/data/cookies, disable Ad-blocker (if available), or use a clean profile and check again • If there are any changes made to the default settings of the browser (e.g. in about:config), please revert to the default settings

Hi, as mentioned originally, you can test the login process at: https://www.tangerine.ca/app/#/login/login-id Using a fake 8 digit client number: 12345678 11111111 99999999 all work.
Also, I did indicate that when the error occurs, the Console shows this error:
"Cross-Origin Request Blocked: The Same Origin Policy disallows reading the remote resource at https://secure.tangerine.ca/web/Tangerine.html. (Reason: CORS request did not succeed). Status code: (null)."
I did indeed clear my cache & cookies, disabled addons, and tested with a clean profile. The problem is inconsistent.
@sylvank Valid credentials are still needed, as the PIN is not accepted:
What I would do usually to test this kind of issue, is:
- Type
about:profiles
in the url bar. - Choose
Create a new profile
. - Call it
deleteme
or anything you please. - Then start it. (this way you will be sure that nothing is interfering, no ghost caching etc.)- make sure account sync is not performed, as the extensions will be imported in the new profile.
- Test.
Note: You can return to your old profile at any given time by accessing "about:profiles" in the address bar

Valid credentials are still needed, as the PIN is not accepted:
If the page redirects you to the PIN entry form, the bug has not occurred.
The console error "Cross-Origin Request Blocked: The Same Origin Policy disallows reading the remote resource at https://secure.tangerine.ca/web/Tangerine.html. (Reason: CORS request did not succeed). Status code: (null)." appears when submitting the Login ID form, if the error occurs.
Choose Create a new profile.
I previously indicated that the problem does not (immediately) occur in a new profile.
Some things that HAVE worked to avoid the error: Using a completely fresh Firefox instance in the Mac Guest account. Starting a new profile.
@sylvank Maybe old corrupt data is interfering with the new profile. If it works in a new profile, most likely that is the case.
