Problem type: Something else Description: Bad performance with animated svg used as background Steps to Reproduce: Open https://wf4svy.csb.app/, it will render the animated SVG in an image tag, everything works as expected (60 FPS). Then click the "toggle" button, it will render the animated SVG as a div element background, and the performance will dramatically slow down (2 FPS).

Thanks for the report, but the issue is reproducible both on Firefox and Chrome. For me if dropped at around 5-10fps both on Firefox and Chrome.

Tested with: Browser / Version: Firefox Nightly 105.0a1 (2022-08-01), Chrome 103.0.5060.134 Operating System: Windows 10 Pro

For this project, we try to focus our effort on layouts, features, or content that works as expected in one browser but not in another. Closing the issue as Non-compat.

I can reproduce this with: Browser / Version: Firefox 103.0, Chromium 103.0.5060.134 Operating System: Arch Linux

Thanks @ZeekoZhu. I've managed to reproduce it on Ubuntu, where Chrome does not drop bellow 58fps.
