Picking a different sourceforge mirror
Hi there! I'm currently trying to get waydroid installed.
When I used sudo waydroid init, I noticed it was downloading from sourceforge.
How do I pick a different mirror? The default one is insanely slow for me (30mb in 5 minutes!).
i was also facing the same issue, i am on an arch based distro so what i did was install waydroid-image from the arch user repository(aur) and there the speed was very good. so if you are on an arch based distro, just install yay if not already installed and do yay waydroid-image if you are not o an arch based distro then i am sorry i cannot help

In the PKGBUILD it's downloading from sourceforge, not sure how it would fix anything.
i literally downloaded it yesterday and it took only 17 minutes, i don't know how but yeah it was way way faster just give it a try
oh well it worked for me, the next best option i know is to download the image from the site (with a different mirror which works for you) then you put the images in /usr/share/waydroid-extra/images Then run 'sudo waydroid init -f'
but Doing it this way will not allow for automatic updates though, and you will have to repeat this process next update
use vpn to point to diffrent country so that sourceforge server serves from different server. I ended up using freeopenvpn as its free.

i am also using aur but it shows Failure while downloading https://sourceforge.net/projects/waydroid/files/images/system/lineage/waydroid_x86_64/lineage-18.1-20240504-GAPPS-waydroid_x86_64-system.zip Aborting...
This is still a huge issue, we need a switch for init that lets us define a different sourceforge mirror. I live in New Zealand and for some reason it always defaults to a really buttcheeks slow mirror when I KNOW there are plenty fast mirrors available, just that waydroid init refuses to let me use them for whatever reason. It's a real pain in the backside
live in UK and been trying to install this on bazzite. sourceforge is absolute garbage. everything I try to download from them is painfully slow then gets to within 5MB of completing then resets. when downloading off the website i have to switch the mirror to Sweeden to make it work and then everything crawls.
tried to run the waydroid OTA overnight and once again, 825MB out of 830MB downloaded and it crashed. Honestly have no idea why any project uses sourceforge anymore. What's wrong with github's releases page?
