Adjust brightness/color/volume for all screens at the same time via sliders

I have a multi-monitor setup and would like to adjust the brightness for all monitors at the same time, including the screen of the macbook

You can do this via the keyboard (Settings/Keyboard/Keyboard shortcuts affect/All suitable screens).

There will be a combined slider as well that will affect all displays at once. This feature is upcoming!

The feature should work like this:

  • There should be a brightness, volume slider and color adjustments options that affect all controllable displays at once.
  • Since different displays might have individual brightness levels, the combined slider should be able to show a range (as well as a singular setting if all displays match up) but upon click/slider usage should consolidate all display levels.
  • These sliders should be under the Tools section (probably should be renamed to General or something.
  • Should have visibility toggles under Settings/App Menu/Tools
  • Should be invisible by default (most people probably would want a per display slider in the menu bar)

Can you please also add an option to use the Mac brightness keyboard controls or touch bar slider to adjust the brightness of all screens at the same time? Coming from MonitorControl (which supports that) I was disappointed to not find it in BetterDisplay.

Sure, this is an upcoming feature. I actually already implemented control center/touch bar and built-in screen brightness syncing internally, just not enabled in any of the releases as I wanted to have a more comprehensive syncing solution + this would not work very well with XDR upscaling as that makes the slider go beyond 100%.

I understand that this is coming slowly, sorry about that.

But: I might just enable this feature anyway in an upcoming build in conjunction with this one: #1340

I'd plead for iterative feature releases: If synced brightness controls don't work for XDR upscaling but for everything else then releasing it will make all users who don't use XDR upscaling happy, and you would be delivering value.

At a later stage you can expand the feature to also include XDR upscaling and make even more users happy, again delivering value 😄

Any news on the brightness slider controlling all screens? Or to also respect the "Keyboard shortcuts affect" setting? I'm really missing that one coming from MonitorControl

Not yet but will do. The Keyboard shortcuts affect setting should work to control all displays.
