Add Support for DDC/CI Control via DisplayLink Docks

Up until now I’ve been using gamma table adjustments for my DisplayLink connected monitors, but I recently update my DisplayLink Manager app and noticed that they added support for brightness and contrast adjustments via DDC/CI control. This feature is documented by synaptics here: https://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/2021015-brightness-and-contrast-control-settings Could you please look into incorporating these new abilities into BetterDisplay?

Hi there - this issue was raised with DisplayLink, I hope there will be a way to integrate BetterDisplay and similar apps with the DisplayLink driver.

Ok, it looks like you’re already on top of it. Thanks for your effort and please keep me posted!

Just an update for this, I noticed this morning that in the macOS shortcuts app I am able to change the brightness and contrast of my DisplayLink displays. I recognize that this doesn’t inherently mean that other apps will be able to access this, but it does show that DisplayLink is exposing their controls to other systems.

I had a discussion with the DisplayLink team as they reached out. They said they'll provide integration options for third party apps but did not commit to a timetable and an exact method (we had a brief discussion about the options). Anyway, if there is now a Set Brightness/Contrast action, it could be wrapped to a script and using Integration Controls, you can set up BetterDisplay to use this with some work.
