[Feature]: Option to hide UI elements (Tab bar and Side bar)

Open ShadowArcanist opened this issue 1 year ago • 2 comments

Feature description

Right now, I can't hide the tab bar and sidebar in the terminal. I like a clean look, and these take up alot of space. I can open new tabs with Cmd:t and switch between them with Cmd:[ and Cmd:], so I don’t need to see the tab bar all the time. Currently, there are no key bindings for opening new blocks or widgets, but that’s a separate issue. Right now, they’re just taking up space on my screen.

Implementation Suggestion

It would be helpful to have options to hide the tab bar and sidebar separately. I’d like to use key bindings to toggle them on and off (I don’t have specific key bindings in mind, so any options would work for me.)

Anything else?

trying to figure out at what level of configuration to apply this. a global option (in settings.json), at a workspace level, or at a tab level (or all of the above)?

Ditto from me.

If/when hiding the sidebar you'll need keystrokes instead, pls add options re: opening/closing these windows (I.e. CTL+SHIFT+B - opens, then closes a given sidebar window), instead of the default behaviour which opens multiple same windows.
