10.2 inch epaper screen cannot update without a full refresh

I implemented a weather display based on the python example you provide for epd10in2g. However, as far as I can tell there is no way to update part of the display without running an entire refresh cycle; is there a way to update individual numerals, or for uploading an image only update the changed parts, without flashing the whole display dark/white in between and taking a full 30 seconds to update?
