WhatsApp auto update when available

Don't know if possible (and advisable), but I thinking about a feature to automatically update WhatsApp Web when available (see picture): image

What do you think? Can be trapped by DOM/Javascript and launched by Wavebox instead of user click?

Thanks.

It should be trappable, I'll have a look to see what we can do.

It's the sort of thing that might take me a while to get a grasp of because testing will be quite sporadic unless I can force it somehow

I would not want this feature. It takes 1-3 seconds to refresh it. Anyone can just do it when they get a chance. It's not like WhatsApp update several times a day.

Every new feature comes with bugs. What if WhatsApp automatically refreshes on wrong times like while writing a message or searching for something. You will lose your progress unexpected.

Also, there will be general bugs in implementing it. What if DOM changes and Wavebox wrongly thinks WhatsApp update is available every 10 minutes. Then we will come and blame the maintainer that their software is buggy.

Another issue I can think of is that WhatsApp doesn't work without a phone. If WhatsApp was already running, I can see recent conversation even if mobile is away (sometimes it happens because of battery-saving apps). But if it refreshes, I have to go through the hassle of finding my phone and opening WhatsApp just to read the last message.

Could be done on startup only, avoiding wrong time refresh.
