Create a wasteof.plus API and database for use by addons
Why?
Some addon ideas I and other wasteof-ers have had that would be enhanced by this feature include:
- Facebook-like Post/Comment Emoji Reactions
- Comment likes
- A future version of Polls
- and more
In my original ideas for these new addons, replies would be posted including metadata for things like emoji reactions and comment likes, and in the current version of polls, poll responses.
About
This API would be open-source and contributable by wasteof.plus contributors. @radeeyate has offered to help contribute/set up this API in the not-to distant future, but, as it does not seem to be very critical atm, we will focus on accomplishing the more-achievable #92 in the meantime.
Polls Addon Improvements
For the polls (and potentially other future addons), the extension will eventually simply post a link to the wasteofplus vercel web app, which will allow polls to be responded to, and will be powered by the new API. Additionally, the extension will replace these links with the embedded polls for non-wasteof users, as @jeffalo suggested in the thread under the new guidelines. This would basically be a survey-monkey like site which uses the same polls engine developed by @mybearworld, but it would be usable by non-extension users through the link, which would include some type of URL parameter or poll_id identifier.
