Android Builds fail - Kotlin Gradle

I'm unable to build a flutter project that depends on the latest published version of flutter_gl (v0.0.21); I'm getting this error:

$ flutter run -d "SM G988W"

FAILURE: Build failed with an exception.

* What went wrong:
The Android Gradle plugin supports only Kotlin Gradle plugin version 1.5.20 and higher.
The following dependencies do not satisfy the required version:
