Warp doesn't respect the "Open terminal here" on first launch

Open DenisLevy76 opened this issue 1 year ago • 4 comments

Dupe Check

Describe the bug

When I click 'Open terminal here' in Dolphin, the Warp terminal opens at the root directory the first time. The second time, with the terminal still open, it opens in the correct directory.

To reproduce

https://github.com/warpdotdev/Warp/assets/62116847/820b0b0f-bf26-4ae9-ab9d-dbec44e05d01

  1. Open a directory in Dolphin.
  2. Right-click.
  3. Select "Open terminal here".
  4. Repeat the steps above with Warp already open.

Expected behavior

Open the directory correctly on the first attempt.

Does this block you from using Warp daily?

No

Is this a Warp specific issue? (i.e. does it happen in Terminal, iTerm, Kitty, etc.)

Yes, this I confirmed this only happens in Warp, not other terminals.

Hi @DenisLevy76 Thanks for letting us know. Glad this isn't a blocker. I suspect this is the case since Warp doesn't run on startup like a service so it needs to be launched first before you can "open terminal here". Maybe you can workaround this by putting warp-terminal & in your bash or zsh profile.

I'll let the team know and we'll post updates on this thread.

I'm on Fedora 40 KDE and have the same issue. I'm happy to answer any questions.

EDIT: I've since moved to Arch Linux. I'm still using KDE and I'm still happy to help.

EDIT 2: Scratch that, I'm back on Fedora 41 KDE. Loved Arch but don't quite have the time to maintain it properly at the moment. Still happy to answer any questions!

EDIT 3: I'm no longer using Warp, so I likely won't be able to answer many questions anymore. Great product though! Totally would still recommend!

Hi there, same issue on Arch Linux with KDE plasma6, any workaround on this issue? :D

@fu050409 as mentioned in the comment above, the only workaround at the moment seems to be to have a warp window open already.
