Custom keyboard shortcuts for tab navigation don't work
Discord username (optional)

Describe the bug
Setting the keyboard shortcuts for tab navigation (Activate next tab, Activate previous tab) to shift–command–right/left arrow does not work.
To reproduce
- Open Warp and open a new tab. Test default keyboard shortcuts for tab navigation (previous/next) to ensure they work.
- Open Settings->Configure keyboard shortcuts and search for "Activate next tab". Set the shortcut to shift–command–right arrow. Save this. Search for "Activate previous tab" and set this to shift–command–left arrow.
- Open another tab and try to use new keyboard shortcuts to navigate between tabs
Expected behavior
Navigating tabs using the custom keyboard shortcuts should work.

Does this block you from using Warp daily?
Yes, this issue prevents me from using Warp daily.
Is this a Warp specific issue? (i.e. does it happen in Terminal, iTerm, Kitty, etc.)
Yes, this I confirmed this only happens in Warp, not other terminals.

hey @lacom Thanks for letting us know. I was able to reproduce this, but unfortunately, there isn't a workaround at this time. I recommend keeping the defaults for now. We'll post any changes or updates on this thread.
To anyone else facing this issue, please add a :+1: to the original post at the top or comment with your details, and subscribe if you'd like to be notified.
I tried changing it to command-arrow and then shift-arrow, but these didn't work either. But I assume no other than the defaults work? The defaults are impossible to use with a Swedish keyboard layout, and I assume other non-english layouts as well.
Same here. The defaults are impossible to use on a German keyboard layout as well.
It's really annoying. Any chance there is some workaround?
Any update here?
Any update on this? Can't use Warp without these shortcuts!! Pleaze fix.

I tried changing them today and now it seems to be working! I'm on the latest version.
Just updated, something's happening but not working right. In one window, it worked to witch between tabs 1 and 2 (out of 3) but after getting to tab 3, the shortcut stopped working. In other open windows it didn't work at all
Ok, maybe not fully implemented yet then. I just by chance tried it today before I read this thread again since I was so annoyed by the lack of functionality, and it just worked. What I got working was command-arrow for moving through tabs left and right, and command-shift-arrow for moving through panes. I'm running warp in "visor" mode or whatever it's called, and I also noticed that for it to work fully I had to disable any conflicts (other shortcuts being the same as these), although weirdly enough command-leftarrow worked while the was shortcut conflict , but not command-rightarrow?

Ahh, thanks for mentioning this, it's easy to miss the conflict message in the UI.
After clearing the conflict, the feature now works as expected!! 👍
For me with Warp v0.2024.06.25.08.02.stable_01 does not work.
same
same problem here, any update?
Any update on this issue? 🙏🏻
clearing the conflict on the shortcut I've assigned seems to have resolved the issue for me.
Activating next and previous tab still doesn't work when the Focus is on the cursor section. It only works when the focus of that current tab is on any of the blocks above it then I can switch between. If you switch to a different tab that is also active in the cursor, then switching tabs is broken again.
Hey all! Thanks for your patience on this issue, we now have a workaround in the latest release (v0.2025.01.08.08.02.stable_03) for setting cmd-shift-left/right to tab navigation.
If you go to Settings -> Keyboard shortcuts, you can clear the conflicting keybindings for "Select To Line End" and "Select To Line Start". This should make cmd-shift-left/right work properly for tab navigation. Previously, these keybindings were getting hijacked due to the way we had implemented keybindings for the input editor.
If there's any other keybindings that don't work for this case, please let us know!
Going to close out this issue as solved. If anyone encounters any further issues with this, please leave a comment!
It seems that this is not resolved. Today I installed the latest version from the RPM package Set up custom shortcuts for next and previous tab. SHIFT + LEFT arrow to previous tab SHIFT + RIGHT arrow to next tab.
And if I use these shortcuts, nothing happens.
My os version: Fedora 40 Warp version: warp-terminal-v0.2025.01.29.08.02.stable_03-1.x86_64.rpm
Hey, still can't make a custom shortcut for tab navigation; any news or workaround?
Anyway I can help trying to fix this?
desired shortcut: cmd+opt arrows(left right)
thanks
Doesn't work for me neither I'd like it to be "cmd+left arrow" and "cmd+right arrow"
