Describe the bug

To reproduce
On a block that is not the most recent one, select a character with a mouse, release the click, press and hold Shift on keyboard then move your cursor on a few characters or lines futher and click once.
Expected behavior
It should the select the text between the original position where you first clicked or selected some text and the wherer you clicked last

Does this block you from using Warp daily?
Yes, this issue prevents me from using Warp daily.
Is this a Warp specific issue? (i.e. does it happen in Terminal, iTerm, Kitty, etc.)
Yes, this I confirmed this only happens in Warp, not other terminals.

Thanks for letting us know @ilearnio. Looks like we may have missed that functionality for existing blocks. We'll post any updates to this behavior on this thread.

This is heavily affecting my workflow as I often select large blocks of text from a block. Now I am forced to copy the Whole warp block, put it in an editor, and delete the unwanted stuff.
Hey @Shankar1598 sorry about this blocker. As a possible alternative, you can click-drag-select specific text instead of copying the entire block.
Any updates on this issue, we'll post on this thread.
+1 very useful
Additional for click + shift to select word instead of exactly point clicked
For example Hello world double LMB at Hello (anywhere in these word) > release LMB > shift + LMB on r at world will be highlight all Hello world
+1 Any update on this? I am on v0.2024.12.18.08.02.stable_03, but still cannot select text with shift+click
Hello, i would really love to have this feature as well.. Really messe up UX for me
Will this feature be planned for support in 2025? It would be really useful.
Can I plz haz this feature?
I’m using Warp version v0.2025.03.26.08.10.stable_02 and noticed that Shift+Click text selection still doesn’t work on blocks, making it difficult to select text across lines—something that works reliably in VS Code, Notion, and even the built-in macOS Terminal.
This missing functionality significantly disrupts my workflow and prevents me from using Warp daily.
Was this behavior intentionally removed or deprioritized?
It would be helpful to understand the reasoning, as this is a standard feature expected by most developers.
Here in June. Still a MASSIVE annoyance in my daily workflow.
Being able to select text in sections using shift+click is extremely useful and provides an excellent user experience for selecting and easily copying long texts that contain scroll bars.
