I think some designer touches must be made to the application icon to make it more recognisable as a terminal application.

I am missing the Warp icon in 97% of the cases I'm trying to switch to it. It looks similar to Superhuman, or Sublime Text and it just doesn't stand out.
I have no such problem with Terminal.app, iTerm2.app, Cathode.app, even Alacritty is quite standing out.

FWIW, you can try this collection or this of terminal-appropriate app icons. I also find that I need an icon resembling a terminal, to be able to get to it faster.
this should be a little bit more ios app esque. my temporary solution for now is to change the app icon manually using Mac's get more info window.
Looks like an even vaguely similar feature requests have been closed, so just adding to this one: the app icon has recently been updated and there appears to be no way to change it back to the old one (I know this is very subjective, but I think it used to be much better). Letting users set a custom icon would be nice too (could use the default terminal icon, for example).

The old one indeed looked more authentic.
For contrast, a custom icon variation (I don't say you need to do the same, but this is instantly recognizable along a very long row of launched apps in dock)
