Altitude tracking

Hi, I would like to have altitude tracking (how many meters went up and down). Just like a two indicators. It would be good to have for hiking. Problem is only with possibility to mark start point of tracking and end of tracking. Could it be possible to do it by widget (this start/stop) track and somehow exchange start altitude value for watch face?

I am software developer. With some guidelines I could do the code and join output to your project.
