Browsing history permission

Hey! This Chrome extension is great, but I have to use it in a secondary profile because I don't feel confident granting it permission to view my browsing history. Why is this permission needed?

Am I correct assuming that it's only for the exists check feature? In which case I would like to go ahead and change that to be an optional permission
