Dependent Dropdowns

is there any way of generating select field dependency, like city dropdown depending on country dropdown etc.? I have tried some grocery crud extensions, but they don't work possibly because of HMVC. Has anybody tried this with ci_bootstrap_3? Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks.
