What is happening with Oklab & ΔEOK?

This has been in the back of my mind for a while now, linking for posterity: https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/pull/10063.

Sounds like Oklab was released to the world a tad underbaked and needs improvement, but has been adopted quickly so change isn't desirable.

(Not that you'd find out about this from where you might learn about Oklab, e.g. https://bottosson.github.io/posts/oklab/, it's all buried in github threads)
