Unrealistic speech input commands in video

Putting my comment about the Speech Recognition video (https://www.w3.org/WAI/perspective-videos/voice/) re @shawna-slh request

It looks like this may be slated to be reshot to use “speech recognition” rather than “voice recognition”. I think the video is quite misleading in several other ways – if you’re going to reshoot this I would consider redoing the script as well.

Here are some of the speech-related issues:

“19th Century Architecture”, would not by itself produce search results on a screen.

“Send email to Name” is a misleading wording, especially with the video not showing what is happening (think about the steps that have to happen in addressing and writing an email).

A single word command for something that you can’t undo like “finish” is recipe for disaster in real-world use – I don’t think it’s good to imply that this is a good way to use speech.

If you do reshoot the video I'm happy to look at the speech commands and flow with an eye toward making sure they are realistic and practical. I think having a video with inaccurate commands damages WC3's credibility.
