Suggested feature: search by property or keyword

Echoing an idea that @takenspc shared with me face-to-face today:

It would be nice if the API let users query by keywords, eg CSS properties. The result would be either the spec that introduced that property for the first time, or a list of all specs where that property is mentioned. Think caniuse.com, but in a programmatic way.

I realise that this is an ambitious feature, and that we probably don't store comprehensive information about all keywords and properties defined by specs (?). Still, I wanted to have it listed here.

I found the CSS Indexes which lists terms defined by CSS specs. I will refer this note for now. Though I understand that this is an ambitious feature, I will be happy to see this.

That document is useful, @takenspc (I too seemed to remember there was an index like that, but couldn't remember where…).

(I'll leave this issue open until others weigh in to contribute or discard the idea altogether.)
