IETF Datatracker like search and timeline of previous versions

Open cynthia opened this issue 6 years ago • 5 comments

IETF's data tracker has two really neat features (I'm sure there are more, but these are the ones that stand out)

  1. Search against published specs
  2. Timeline plots of spec development

It would be really neat to have this kind of functionality against specs published in TR at least. (Hopefully even for WDs too..)

@siusin has more context if the report isn't clear.

This seems a little outside the scope of this repo. This only deals with base.css, *.css, and fixup.js. The data tracker seems to go waaaay beyond that.

Since a few months now, https://www.w3.org/TR/ provides some filters people can use to search for a specification. Of course, we could add more parameters to the filters but we also want to keep things simple. Regarding the charts, we do keep all kind of data so we could generate some of these plots. It's just a matter of priorities and resources :-)

and yes, I concur with @marcoscaceres, maybe the modern tooling repo will be better suited for that kind of requests

I was directed here by @siusin, can we move this to that repository in that case?
