Practice Issue: Feel free to comment!
For those who are new to GitHub, feel free to comment on this issue for practice!
Hi Dave!
Hi, all! I don't see an edit button on the wiki page (to add my name to a task force). Do I need to be a collaborator to edit?
Tim, I just added you as a collaborator. Anyone else, just ask me and I'll add you.
Thanks!
I signed in to Accessibility and Education. I should probably be monitoring the Testing and Validation TF, especially if it also involves epubtest.org, because of the BISG connection. We didn't discuss epubtest.org on the call. Is that part of the T&V TF?
Yes, epubtest.org would be a topic of interest to a testing and validation task force.
We had a separate idpf group for the test suite initially but all it did was make coordination complicated as it and epubtest.org became more tightly bound, so that's how BISG ended up taking charge of both. It might be better to look at expanding that BISG group than striking up another. (Assuming that group is still a going concern.)
Of course, if there are other testing issues (epubtest.org has its objectives), I'm not arguing against a task force.
Remote-resource properties are not available on the "features support" page. Why? Does anyone have information? -> http://epubtest.org/features/
@teytag my guess is that no one wrote a test for those features.
@mattgarrish I need to talk to Brian about BISG's role in all this.
BillK: This will be on the agenda for the PBG call next week. Brian will be calling in. We've been waiting for him to be available to put it on the agenda.
Thanks for info @dauwhe ... But I know that EPUB-Checker does not accept this feature (remote-resources).
For me Github is okey. No problem about to use it. Have a nice day...
How best to handle epubtest.org and the BISG Grid is an open and ongoing discussion between the W3C, BISG, and DAISY. There are good arguments for keeping the Accessibility testing as is but changing how the "mainstream testing" for epubtest.org should be done. While it's presumed those three organizations will still collaborate on this, the roles may shift now that IDPF is part of W3C.
OK, I am putting in a new comment I also can tell that I can edit comments others have made. Good think markdown is supported.
Oops, It looks like I can edit my own comments, like this one, but not others, which is fine.
George is adding a new comment here.
In trying to figure out how to save my comment, I accidently closed it, but seeing the error of my ways, I re-opened, hopefully. so, trying to figure out how to save my comment.
@GeorgeKerscher this is all part of learning to use GitHub. You have successfully demonstrated that one can close and reopen an issue without losing any information.
@teytag If you can demonstrate what problem epubcheck has validating the remote-resource property, please document it in the issue tracker for that project.
If it's that vendors aren't allowing remote resources independent of what epubcheck validates, or reading systems don't support, there's nothing that can be done about that.
@dauwhe please add me as a collaborator or at least add me to the test & validation task force :) Thanks.
Hi @mattgarrish After long time I have checked this topic in this morning. EPUB is valid! Thanks for info...

Hi, I'm a user of the NVDA screen reader for Windows, by @nvaccess and its community, and of TalkBack for Android. You can add me to the accessibility subgroup to contribute on GitHub. Perhaps I could help testing ePUB reading systems with NVDA or commenting related issues. I'm a contributor of the spanish website of NVDA, where we posted two articles about ePUB, since a part of the community of blind people seems not to know how to read ebooks in ePUB format, though there are some people and library interested on this:
Thanks.
Hello! Can I be added as a collaborator? Thanks!
Commenting to become a collaborator @dauwhe
@rickj, can you edit the wiki already? All the steering committee members should already have access.
~~Hi @dauwhe, can you please add me as a collaborator?~~ Thanks Dave! 🐳
Hi, I can contribute with Testing and Validating
Let's start. Thanks @dauwhe
@dualpixel Felipe, if you're also interested in helping with EpubCheck Java develepment, feel free to contact me or Romain Deltoru (@rdeltour) for further planning.
@tofi86 Hi, Tobias I am a designer and I have worked with production of ePUB since 2011, w/ InDesign, Sigil, HTML Editors, etc. Then, I can help with code development.
