Reference either DID v1.0 or v1.1 throughout the specification
See https://github.com/w3ctag/design-reviews/issues/1157
I think we should be referencing v1.1, since v1.0 has content that was moved to DID resolution
This was discussed during the #did meeting on 30 October 2025.

Wip: Should be referencing the correct DID Core version -- 1.0 or 1.1? Do a pass to get right across the spec. Should be 1.1 Wip thinks.
manu: +1
… Should still be able to resolve 1.0 documents, but in general everywhere else 1.1.
This was discussed during the #did meeting on 11 November 2025.

wip: we should be referencing DID 1.1 throughout.
JoeAndrieu: I don't know what that means. What do I need to be practical to be backwards compatable with 1.o
manu: in theory we don't need to do anything.
manu: didn't remove anything - just added. now we have full test stuite for 1.1 - 74 did methods the are all backwards compatable with 1.0 - I don't think anyone needs to think about it.
JoeAndrieu: no requirement to be conformat to 1.0
We <3 easy issues
While working on a separate issue I noticed that the references to DID are through the ReSpec mechanism [[DID]] which, I believe, references the latest W3C recommendation for DID. This is 1.0 although when 1.1 is published it should automatically change?
The only non 1.0 reference is in the abstract where it is explicitly referenced. Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) v1.1.
My suggestion would be to change this to [[DID]] and let ReSpec handle the versioning.
