Jyutping, while perhaps not warranting extensive separate discussion, is a representative system that employs numerals to represent tones. Should it be explicitly stated, either in normal text or within <ruby> annotations, that these tone numbers are sometimes superscripted?

我和侯兴泉老师发表的文章《粤方言拼音方案概说》（《南方语言学》第二十一辑，p70—86）提到了粤拼（我们称为“香港方案”）的“声调应为其原形而不推荐使用上标或下标”（p80）。这是香港语言学学会自己的重申，在文章撰写期间也和香港语言学学会确认过这一原则。张群显老师和其他作者一起撰写的粤剧读物《〈帝女花〉读本》《〈紫钗记〉读本》都用的是上标的声调，但这不是他的本意。我们文章里还提到“广州方案”的声调应是上标（p76）。
