An example where the Romanized interlinear annotation has descenders would be helpful for implementers. Do the descenders metrics descend down into the ruby base area?

These are the People's Education Press's first-grade Chinese language textbook (August 2024 edition). Some of the descenders of the g in the back nasal seem to descend down into the ruby base area?
