Cleanup of errors/cancelled meetings
When one creates and then cancels a meeting (possibly cleaning up an error or changing a schedule), the canceled meeting hangs around in the group calendar. How can we get rid of that clutter?
I believe there are two cases: (1) erasing a mistake and (2) canceling a(n occurrence of a) previously expected meeting. Given the vagaries of calendaring tools, I like the comfort of seeing in my calendar that a meeting has been crossed-out (or greyed-out or marked in some specific way) meeting per UX choice of the client via user's preferences.
So I'd like two buttons: 'Cancel (and show as canceled)' | 'Delete (and remove all traces)'
+1 to have the ability to a trace.
It can also happen that a meeting is cancelled (our guest speaker is unavailable, lets cancel) and then needs to be un-cancelled (hooray, their conflict resolved and they can attend after all!).
And certainly, cancelling an entire even series (by accident or through some glitch) should be reversible or, failing that, should not result in a confusing, zombie series of events with an un-editable end date that shows up for the next 2 years.
In the absence of any clean-up option, the current work-around of "create a new series of events that has the same call details, times, etc as the old one" has the disadvantage that call participants get two reminders - one for the new, real event and one for the zombie event. This will lead to people not showing up as they thought it was cancelled.
Cancelling meetings was implemented a few months ago and it's now also possible to delete events.
