[Bug] UX refresh button is small and a bit difficult to hit accurately

Open tim-seoss opened this issue 1 year ago • 2 comments

Overview

The refresh button is a bit small and difficult to hit accurately / consistently.

How to reproduce

I'm using the widget to try and debug wifi roaming. For this reason I'm manually pressing the refresh button/icon every few seconds whilst walking around. With the current refresh button size, it's hard to accurately hit the button every time, and increasing the font size doesn't change the button/icon sizes. Perhaps as an alternative, a touch anywhere on an empty part of the UI could trigger a refresh?

Version

1.6.0.1

Android Version

Android 14

Device Model

Oneplus 6

I guess I could make the icon size change with respect to the set font size, I don't think a click on an empty part of the widget triggering the refresh would be very intuitive/comprehensible, especially since there ain't much space on the widget that isn't already linked to an on click action. On another note, the in-app WiFi property list refreshes automatically when your WiFi status or its properties change, so maybe using that could already make your life easier.

similar issue except it applies to size of all three shortcuts (refresh, app info and widget settings), due mostly to the size of my hands! 🤲😳👐🫣👋🤭 and screen covering swiper finger(s... think size xxxL gloves, ring finger size 15, 16.5 middle, 18 index😆

go big or go home! prefer tablet, otherwise not much fun using anything smaller than my Pixel Fold fully opened up, where I'm using the widget space allocated on homescreen for Niagara pro launcher (GrapheneOS 16beta).

Perhaps consider relocate refresh to lower left corner, launch app info settings intent to lower center or right corner and widget settings remains lower right corner or text note lower center instructing user to push here and hold to resize/access widget settings as (push&hold) seems the norm for widgets I've used these past years on Android smart devices.

Regardless your decision I must say a genuine appreciation for your work on this Very useful app (as well File Navigator !!!🥰) , making them simple F/OSS trustworthy and available here, gPlayStore, and FDroid!

Thanks💯 Dev!! ✊🪖🫡🕊️✌️

Button size was increased in version 1.7.2, hope you'll find it easier to hit the buttons now! Thanks for reporting!
