You are more than welcome to write a portfile! If you do, please file a pr so that we can add it to the source tree.
We should definitely document it if it exists!
I want to finish the contracts pr before making a release, as that one is pretty important functionality/optimization-wise.

Can you try with WSL? You'll probably have better luck than cygwin.

Well the need is for cutting the boilerplate, especially for scripts or interactive code. For (static) binaries I would very much recommend against fat.
I don't think that behaviour is specified in the standard though. `_` goes deep in gerbil, it's recognized as the "ignore/wildcard" identifier in many forms.
Also note that there is a predicate bound at phi=1 which you can use to test for underscores: `underscore?`.
