does the sudo apt-get upgrade update the webclient too ?

flyingrub avatar Jul 04 '14 14:07 flyingrub

No, don't use it. It will most likely break the system

Simply Volumio is not meant to be updated. You get updated packages, if they are needed, by flashing a more recent version.

I've noticed that there is a SoundCloud playlist plugin in the source for MPD that is hosted on Github, see https://github.com/sol/mpd/blob/master/src/playlist/soundcloud_playlist_plugin.c

On my Gentoo install I have a 'USE=soundcloud' flag and I've successfully enabled SoundCloud playlists on there, is there any scope for compiling MPD under Volumio with this enabled too?

Some relevant discussion on the MPD developers mailing list from when the patch was submitted is at http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.audio.musicpd.devel/2218

There is also a thread on RuneAudio suggesting some users have had some success...

in. this feature would be great as mpd already supports it.

+1 Yes, please support this!

@gruentee I have in the past got the MPD Soundcloud feature working, albeit not under Volumio but on my main computer (Gentoo) and Arch Linux ARM as I found Volumio (and others of its ilk such as Moode) too restrictive so opted for a plain install.

If you know how to configure things at the command line then you can likely SSH into your Volumio install and configured MPD directly (assuming its been built under Volumio with soundcloud support that is).

@slackline Thanks for the hint, I guess I'll try that some time.
