Gap option not working as expected

It seems to be impossible to disable the gap option either globally by gap=0 in options.js (as announced in #691) or by channel: Gaps in data are always shown as gap in the graph. See also discussion in news group "[vz-users] Upgrade der Middleware auf VZ 2.0 -- Lücken im Graphen" Feb 2021.

Is a tricky configuration necessary, or is it a bug?
