When making a release with the releaser, it does not update the stable branch automatically

Maybe we should remove this stable branch and let RTD pick up the stable version based on tags?

Otherwise the releaser hook is here, and is still referring to a v1 hook:

Maybe switching to after-populate-release will allow the script to run again.
