Realistic information and resource flow in games

Open void4 opened this issue 4 years ago • 0 comments

There are very few games that have a realistic information/resource flow between units, be it player ships transporting ore in Eve Online, or orders in Command Ops 2. Heroes and Generals also has a bit of this, with the 'Generals' players deciding where and under which conditions battles between 'Heroes' players take place.

Even in management games like Prison Architect, which are agent based, most information (which tasks there are, what orders are given by superiors) is global, no NPC has to shout/call/text another NPC to relay this information.

It will introduce lots of delay but also might be a fun mechanic, especially in multiplayer settings where intercepting a courier or cutting a phone cord may actually affect the game outcome dramatically.
