Its 2025, I think a default login shell with history support is fine.

It works as expected on my system, leaving as draft for now to receive more comments/feedback.

I'm testing shadow-4.18.0 (built for x86_64-glibc) right now with the rest of the changes from this PR. Will report back.

EDIT: Tested so far:

  • adding and deleting users (also to/from groups)
  • adding and deleting groups
  • changing passwords
  • lastlog, sg

@dkwo Do you plan on bumping to 4.18.0?
