Note: this was done on a user request. I don't use labwc or any other compositors, so if anyone else with a usecase wants to maintain this, I'll be happy to yield.

I tested this recently. The Wayland compositor builds and start just fine, i set up all configuration files as well for a full experience. There were some noticeable issues though. I use a multi monitor setup, where 1 of the monitors has a different (fractional) scale applied, set up through Kanshi.

  • When opening Firefox (with Wayland enabled of course) on the monitor with the different scale, it crashes. Same when moving Firefox from the non scaled monitor to the scaled one using the mouse.
  • Launching games though Steam / Lutris did not work. In most cases the games would just crash, and it some cases the game was started (sound playing), but there is no game window. XWayland is obviously available, i use Sway on the same machine where everything works fine.

There are probably more bugs but these were the significant ones i found after some testing. Labwc is still very much in development though, so bugs are expected. We could definitely package this, but with a friendly reminder that issues should be reported on the Labwc GitHub page.

I think this may be something to do with Void, or its differences from distributions like Arch. I've successfully launched many games using Steam, Proton and Wine on Arch Linux.
