Guest OS Version not complete - Ubuntu

Open toehold opened this issue 6 years ago • 5 comments

Hi,

using vSphere Client version 6.7.0.30000 to view Ubuntu, Centos, Windows VMs. Whilst for Centos and Windows the Guest OS is showing the full version, e.g. CentOS 6 (64-bit), for Ubuntu it only shows: Ubuntu (32bit) or (64bit). It would be nice if it showed also the Ubuntu version, e.g. 16.04 or 18.04.

thanks

Thanks for reporting this issue. What versions of vCenter, ESXi, and VMTools are you using?

Thanks.

Hello,

It look still unchanged, we have several Ubuntu machines (18 LTS, 20 LTS) running on ESXi7 which report themselves as "Ubuntu Linux (64-bit)". Is there any plan to change this behaviour?

regards, Fabrizio
