Why need root?

It is possible to install V4L2 or some firmware with rooted adbd? I have a LineageOS Snapdragon 632 mobile phone. Like you I'm not rooted, but lineage os have the possibility to use adb with root privilege. So maybe would be possible to use RFM without breaking banking apps compatibility?

If possible this will permit to try your actual phone with the exynos too.
