I think the tabs on top should be posts and posts + replies. I always like to see posts + replies, but on Amethyst I need to switch tabs because I can only see posts or replies, not both.

Is that what the difference is between "New threads" and "Conversations"?

New threads are new posts by your follow list selected on the top bar. Conversations are all of their replies and comments in chats, communities, etc.
