i'd like to start a showcase issue where people can share their themes for inspiration

That's something that's missing horribly, a store to share themes. Not everyone is interested is creating its own theme. I would love it if https://vitormv.github.io/fzf-themes/ had theme sharing ability (but perhaps could be another project, or even some place on github with a simply a link to it).
