When two-finger double-tapping for Smart Zoom, there's no status bar

Hover over a section on a website, two-finger-double-tap on a trackpad to zoom in, then hover over a link, and it looks like there's no status bar. It seems to work if you zoom with Cmd-+, though.

ooh, this one might be tricky. I might be able to position based on the zoomed in viewport... I'll have to research it.

This issue also occurs when using pinch/unpinch to zoom.

Seems like position: device-fixed was proposed, but it doesn't seem to be supported in Safari (8.0.4).
