UI freeze when pulling / commiting and clicking in the navigator

How to reproduce: Create a decently big data set (or have a slow internet connection). Then commit / pull from a repo and try to open an editor in the navigator. Observation: The application will freeze until the commit / pull is done.

It should be checked if it is necessary to freeze the entire display thread when the navigator cannot get ahold of the editing domain.
