@ACowan0105 are we sure we want this? We have to be careful how we update the diagram and handle event listeners so that we don't make VCell slower than it already is for large reaction networks.

@jcschaff The current code defines as catalyst all species that show it the kinetic parameter table and is not a reactant / product. So, fixing this will simply mean adding to this table the species present in the expression of a global parameter. I'm not sure if we want to to do that.

@jcschaff @danv61 @vcellmike This issue was originally raised by Michael so we should get his take on how common this is. It would certainly be a big help to the user, I think in cases where users do this, but we should determine how many users this would affect.
