Use ambient occlusion and similar graphics engine features
Ambient occlusion currently isn't enabled in the user graphics settings, though the graphics engine supports it. There are other feature similarly not used, but could be if good use cases are established.
- Ambient occlusion: perhaps make a zone property so that creators can configure it (on/off. strength). But also have an enable/disable switch in Interface graphics settings. https://github.com/vircadia/vircadia/blob/master/scripts/developer/utilities/render/debugAmbientOcclusionPass.js
- Outlining
- Transition effects (like avatar fade-in): Might be useful for transitions between discrete LODs to reduce pop-in / pop-out. [deadhand]
- Color correction curve: Improve it (beyond the few presets) and exposing that as a zone property. [HifiExperiments]
