Manually add repo for appimage

Would it be possible to add an option to be able to manually insert links to appimages so that it checks for updates even for those not on GitHub?

Maybe it could be a pop-up that pops up when we manually "install" an appimage?

It is not so easy to accomplish, because every repository can follow a different distribution method/pattern. We would need a common pattern for integration. Could you detail your specific scenario ?
