Vime is merging into Vidstack

🤷 What is Vidstack?

Vidstack is a video framework built with high-quality web components such as vds-video-player, vds-uploader, and vds-analytics, that make integrating video into modern web apps easier. There are many unsolved hard problems when building and working with video at the application layer - we exist to solve these for developers.

❓ How does this affect Vime?

Vidstack will continue the work we started here at Vime. Once we release the 1.0 version of Vidstack Player, the Vime library will be merged into the Vidstack GitHub organization , and eventually archived. Our goal for the 1.0 release of the new player library is to reach feature parity with Vime. This means that anything that's currently achievable with Vime, you will be able to do the same with Vidstack Player, but in a much better way. One simple example of this is more customization of the player elements. We recommend following us on Twitter to stay updated with the latest features, releases, and announcements.

Hey!

Great news. I'm looking forward to the release of Vidstack Player.

Are there any specific deadlines? When will the Beta version of Vidstack Player be released approximately?

Hey @abvas!

We're reviewing right now what we need to have in place for a Beta release. If we're confident with the foundation of the project, then it might simply be documentation and then release! Once I know I'll be posting it on our Twitter/Discord (links above) 😄

You can now find more information about the Vidstack Player Beta here. Be aware that issues in relation to the Beta are still actively being worked on. Announcements to follow soon after the issues are finalized.
