I just did a fresh install

$ viking --version

      <Placemark id="export.1">
        <name>19</name>
        <LineString>

and nothing I do will get track labels to show with KLMs. Yes,

Image is clicked.

I remember there was some workaround... Ah yes, put track_draw_name_mode=1 in .config/viking/viking.ini .

Well, nobody is going to figure that out unless it is in the menus.

It is a per track setting.

Thus select the Track (e.g. on the left hand list panel) then right click->Properties. Select Drawing sub-tab, then set the Draw Name option to whatever value you want.

The setting in viking.ini is the default applied to the Draw Name option in light of no other information. It is saved/used in .vik files, but AFAIK there is no equivalent in other file types, so this default itself is set to Off.

All I know is one day somebody is going to embed Viking into e.g., ChromeOS where users cannot tamper with init files, so please be sure to also have such defaults also accessible via Preferences.
