Maybe add File > Refresh from disk To reread the kml etc. file, assuming it has been updated on disk. (Different than File > Open recent file > [first file], which just adds the new version on top of the old version.) True, one could also exit and do viking file.kml again.

Google Earth has such a menu item.

Note I'm not talking about tiles. There's already a Viking menu item and F5 for that.
