HEVC playability is inaccurately evaluated on Firefox for Windows 10 17134

Open privaloops opened this issue 8 months ago • 1 comments

HTTP-streaming try to play hev1.2.4.L120.B0 codec on Firefox > 133 (Since FF is capable of playing HEVC H265) on Windows_NT 10.0 17134

But

Windows 10 can play HEVC only >= Windows_NT 10.0 17763 (and with codec installed)

Note

  • ‘video.canPlayType’ return « probably » on Windows_NT 10.0 17134 but ‘MediaSource.isTypeSupported’ return true (see captures) which is wrong.
  • HLS.JS skip the H265 quality

Test url (⚠️select 1080p quality)
