Difference to the upstream docker images (and the reason for existence ;))
I just started exploring the possibilities of running own instance of etebase and found out there are at least two well maintained docker repositories:
- upstream-maintained: https://github.com/etesync/etesync-dav/blob/master/README.md#docker
- yours
My question - from the position of a newcomer - is simple. Namely what are the differences (technically, release-management, options/choices, etc.) and a reasoning why this non-upstream repository actually exists .
Any insights?
Thanks a lot!
AFAIK they're not the same thing, mine is a self-hosted version of the Etesync Server, the other is the DAV adapter to enable using etesync with outlook, thunderbird and other dav compatible applications
Aha, my bad.
Do you also support the DAV adapter in this (your) repo?
No, mine is just the server, for security reasons is better to run the adapter in your local machine not hosted alongside.
The adapter is compatible with any current server instance, be it the official service at etesync.com or a self-hosted instance (bare-metal or a docker container like mine)
Ok, understood. Thanks for explaining!
